The Egyptian currency is the Egyptian pound. It is called Gineih inArabic. It is also made up of small bills made up of a certain number of piasters. 100 piasters make up an Egyptian pound. The top 10 Exports of Egypt to the U.S. are1) natural gases 2) cotton household furnishings and clothing 3) semi finished iron and steel mill products 4) other petroleum products 5) textile floor coverings 6) non cotton household furnishings and clothing 7) aluminum 8) items returned to the U.S. and then reimported 9) stone,sand, cement, and lime 10) fertilizers, pesticides, and insecticides. Goverment
The Egyptian goverment is a republic. Republic means that there is a democracy and the peoples elected deputies vote on the legislation. The people themselves do not vote on the legislation. Egypt's goverment does have a chek and balance. This means that since the preident and the prime minister both help to run the country, the check and balance keeps both of the people from gaining too much power. Some of the repressions that occur in Egypt's goverment are police brutality is accepted, people who protest and have different oppinions of the goverment can be arrested and beaten, and it negatively impacts the human rights in Egypt. Some of the changes that have occured in the goverment are the Egyptian goverment became a republic on June 18, 1953 because of tensions between the Wafd party and the monarchy. Also, from 1956-1961, Egypt and Syria were one country, known as the United Arab Republic.
Culture
Their system of values are patriarchial because the men do most of the things with the goverment. The women do not have as much power as the men and do not have as many rights. 90% of the Egyptians that live in Egypt are Muslim. Muslims are followers of Islamic religion. Islam is a monotheistic religion. They believe in one god and one god only. They call their god Allah. Islam is based on the revalations recieved by Muammad. Muhammed was a prophet of Allah. There are difficulties between Egypt and non-Islamic countries because they disagree on each others beliefs. There are big disputes over religious beliefs.
