Goverment
The Egyptian goverment is a republic. Republic means that there is a democracy and the peoples elected deputies vote on the legislation. The people themselves do not vote on the legislation. Egypt's goverment does have a chek and balance. This means that since the preident and the prime minister both help to run the country, the check and balance keeps both of the people from gaining too much power. Some of the repressions that occur in Egypt's goverment are police brutality is accepted, people who protest and have different oppinions of the goverment can be arrested and beaten, and it negatively impacts the human rights in Egypt. Some of the changes that have occured in the goverment are the Egyptian goverment became a republic on June 18, 1953 because of tensions between the Wafd party and the monarchy. Also, from 1956-1961, Egypt and Syria were one country, known as the United Arab Republic.
